What does it mean to reach for the Brass ring?

We believe that every teenager possesses the potential to shape their destiny, to seize the brass ring of their aspirations, and to create a vision that will guide them toward a future of fulfillment and success. We understand that this journey is both thrilling and challenging, filled with twists and turns, doubts and discoveries. That's why we're here to provide the guidance, inspiration, and resources you need to navigate this exciting chapter of life.

Our Mission

The Brass Ring Project helps students pave a path forward following high school that will enable them to thrive in work that fits their unique abilities, personality and interests.  We believe that all students should have access to professionals who can guide them through the process of determining their future path and assist in navigating the daunting higher education landscape. The Brass Ring Project wants to help level the playing field.

services provided

  • Career Assessment and Life Coaching

This is where it all starts. Self-knowledge is a powerful tool for life, and the Career and Academic Assessment Process is the foundation. We assist teens in casting a vision for all the possibilities ahead of them. Beginning with career exploration as the first step.

Our in-depth Career and Academic Assessment provides an overview of cognitive abilities, personality traits and interests. These three pieces of information come together to determine your individualized profile, which identifies careers that match your unique strengths, talents and interests.

We then provide the guidance and support to make informed decisions about your life and how you want to live it - teaching you to live a life by design, not by default.

  • College Admissions and Career Coaching

Armed with possible career direction, if college is a necessary step to achieving your goals, we complete a thorough Campus Survey with the student to assess wants and needs in a campus environment. We then complete a college search to provide a larger list of schools to consider. We then support you through the entire application process, including managing your high school resume and essay requirements.

We understand that not everyone wants or needs to attend a four-year college. There are many other paths to success. If your chosen career path does not require a four year college degree, we assist in exploring options for additional training, mentoring, apprenticeships, and more.

  • Financial Aid Assistance

We will provide you with the education necessary to understand the confusing and overwhelming world of financial aid. We will differentiate between Merit Aid and Need-based Aid, provide guidance on navigating private scholarships, help with FAFSA filing, and help sort through offer letters. If loans are something your family will be exploring, we will help guide you through the process.

  • Subsidized Fees

The Brass Ring Project will subsidize the fees for working with our professional College Enrollment Counselors. We will confidentially review your financial situation, and based on the National Household Income Percentile, offer the services at a price your family can afford. For example, if your family is at the 30% of the National Household Income Percentile, your family will pay 30% of the fees, and The Brass Ring Project will pay the remaining 70%.

Services will be provided free to youth with special circumstances (e.g. homeless, foster care, etc.) and families with an annual income at or below the WIC Eligibility level ($45,991)
